In order to better get to know virtual servers, you must first be able to learn what a server really is and how it works. When you are able to get insights about servers, you only do not learn how these work but also understand better the benefits that you get out of using these systems.

Server: What is it?

A server is basically just a computer unit that holds the software files and applications that are used over the computer network and the Internet.Immediately, it is the servers high processing power that pushes it to respond to computer requests or run complex tasks pretty easily.

why have virtual servers, then?

The processing power that was required or expected for each task in the past made it a must for a single server to be assigned for each specific task or application. This meant that every application had one computer that served as a server just to be able to make sure that it is able to run efficiently to its users. But that was in the past. Now, we have designed and created a much more powerful computer to act as the server and instead of just being able to cater to one task at one time, it is now able to easily and quickly solve the same scenario at such speed and power that only one server is necessary for the entire network.

In addition to that, if the network maintains a lot of servers in the data center which is the place where all the servers in the network are located, the place becomes full of servers that are quite of high-maintenance cost especially for networks that are more complex and more bigger. Due to this, virtualisation, or virtual servers is definitely a better alternative. What then is the alternative?

Server virtualisation is definitely a better alternative. It is a process of dividing smaller single, physical servers into smaller chunk of separate virtual entities and making servers across multiple pieces of hardware. This process of converting the server's "real estate" creates a virtual entity that operates separately or individually inside the system and thus can be work across all machines in the network. It does not rely on any single piece of hardware to function, and if necessary the features can even be transferred to other areas in the network in the event of a disaster or a maintenance.

These virtual servers basically provide the power that is necessary for many modern applications to run simultaneously similar to using multiple physical servers without the extra costs and maintenance.The huge savings are immensely high and so it is not surprising for virtualisation to be considered one of the favored methods of hosting commonly by small to medium sized business efficiently and effectively.

Companies now use virtual server hosting and it is easy to see why they are using the same guiding principle: how else can you save by using only one dedicated server and using only the virtual space to to the same thing we used to do?
