Working with electrical equipment can be a dangerous task, and when it comes to using electronics in the workplace most companies have the safety of their employees at the forefront of their minds.

Unfortunately, the nature of electricity means that when there are problems with devices or power lines, it is often difficult to determine whether there is still a live electrical current before the repairman can even begin work, and this can lead to electrocution.

Over time, companies have developed a wide range of High Voltage Test Equipment aimed to help ensure the safety of workers within the electrical industry. Designed to measure the current flowing through a certain wire, the Equipment can then alert the user to the presence of any electricity throughout the repair process.

There are a range of HV Testing Equipment designed to meet any budget range. Detailed readings on type, source and level of current are available in the higher end and more expensive brands. In contrast, the cheaper and more basic handheld devices provide a simple yes or no reading as to whether there is a live current running through a device. These small pen-like designs are a must have addition to any electrician's toolbox.

The Halo Hook is another tool commonly used by electricians, particularly if they are working on overhead power lines. Encased in a safe plastic casing to ensure the safety of the user, this tool is able to measure up to 40kV of power on an overhead line. Complete with an easy to read digital display, these devices can give a range of readings to the user and alert them to any current that is present, and where it is present. These readings can then be stored in the device for further analysis if necessary, or if something needs to be checked further down the track.
