As of the end of September, there are a total of 87.4 million U.S. residents using smart phones. The proportion rose 12% than in the second quarter.

Google's Android operating system currently accounted for 44.8% share of the smart phone operating platform market, ranking the first place, an increase of 4.6% compared to the previous quarter. Apple's iOS remained the second place. The market share rose 0.8% over the previous quarter, accounted for 27.4% of the total market share.

The RIM ranked the third with a market share of 18.9%, a decrease of 4.6% compared with the previous quarter. The fourth and the fifth respectively are Microsoft and Symbian with market share of 5.6% and 1.8%.

Samsung ranked the first among mobile phone manufacturers, covering 25.3% of U.S. mobile phone users market. LG ranked the second, accounting for 20.6% of the market share. The third is Motorola, accounting for 13.8% of the market share. Apple ranked the fourth, accounting for 10.2% of the market share, an increase of 1.3% compared with the previous quarter. RIM ranked the fifth, accounting for 7.1% of the market share.

More than 40% of U.S. mobile phone users will use the mobile phone to browse webs and applications. The users who browse webs through the mobile phone r which have reached 42.9%, an increase of 2.8% compared with the second quarter. While the users who download and install the application are 42.5%, an increase of 3% compared with the second quarter.

The analysts of the industry said that during the third quarter, 71.1% of U.S. mobile phone users use their phones to send short messages, an increase of 1.5% compared with the second quarter. At the same time users who visit the blog and social network by phone have risen 2.4% to 31.5%. The mobile phone users who use phones to play games have risen 1.9% to 28.8%. In addition, 20.9% of users use their phones to listen to the music, an increase of 1.9% compared with the previous quarter.
