You should probably have know that talking on your cell phone while driving is a life threat. Reports have shown that using one in the car can even lead to slower response times as they cause big distractions. Many countries and states have banned the act of using a cell phone without a handsfree device.

While it is necessary that you never neglect your safety all the time, note that switching between a speakerphone is even dangerous on its own. And even while these are not life threats, they can still wreck havoc on your communication with friends, family and co-workers.

The Challenges Of Using Speakerphone Instead Of Headsets

Call Clarity- With your speakerphone, you may find it very difficult to hear what the person at the other end of the phone is saying. Instead of dealing with miscommunication, consider using a headset instead. This will enable you to benefit from crystal-clear clarity with which you will never strain to understand each word.

The Background Noise- Unlike with wireless headsets which have noise-cancelling technology, your caller can hear everything that goes on in your background when you use your speakerphone. This can make it more difficult for them to understand what you are saying, as they must try to hear what you say over the sounds of cars passing you, an airplane above you, or the song you have on the radio.

Complicatedness- Accepting a call with your microphone headsets is simple. It takes not more than reaching up and pressing a small button on the headphones to connect with your caller. The call acceptance process is a bit complicated with a speakerphone. First the stress starts from making sure that your cell phone is placed within reach. When you have a call, you will need to pick the phone first then press another button to turn on the speakerphone. This is very distracting and not the process you need while behind the steering.

Privacy- Using a speakerphone in the car means you have no privacy during your conversation. Anyone who is in the car with you can listen in and even become part of the conversation- even if you don't want them to. On the other hand, consider that you are in the vehicle with your six year old and your boss called, you risk occasional interruptions.

It's Rude- Many callers will not appreciate to be placed on a speakerphone while you can answer your cell phone. The caller has no way of knowing that there are many people listening and may get angry when they see that it is practically hard to get useful information from you. It doesn't call for rudeness while you are distracted with most of your focus on the road.

While you may have speakerphones advertised as the best way to have conversations on the phone while on the road, they may pose more problems than they are worth. However, with a headset instead, you can enjoy call clarity, noise-cancelling technology and the privacy you need for personal conversations.
